Kawasaki® Powersports Vehicles

Kawasaki is one of the most prominent powersports vehicle manufacturers in the industry. Though initially focused on designing and manufacturing motorcycles, the company has since expanded into making ATVs, UTVs, and PWCs.
 

Company History in the United States

During the 1960s, Kawasaki Heavy Industries began to move away from shipbuilding into other industries. One particular venture was the establishment of the American Kawasaki® Motorcycle Corporation. While the company initially focused on producing two-stroke motorcycles, it quickly became clear that American bikers were interested in heavier, more powerful models, and the company pivoted in response. 
 

Pioneers of the Industry

Further innovation was soon to follow. When Kawasaki launched its Mach III model in 1969, the company became known internationally as the top superbike producer. In 1971, the company released the Z1, which at the time was the most powerful four-cylinder and four-stroke engine ever put in a motorcycle. On the business side of things, Kawasaki began building its distribution network in order to create smoother relations with both dealers and customers. 
 

Expansion

The success of Kawasaki® motorcycles inspired the company to expand its lineup. 1973 saw the company release its first PWC model, followed closely by its first three-wheeled and four-wheeled ATV models in 1981 and 1985 respectively. Since then, Kawasaki® powersports vehicles have become known for their quality and reliability.
